Everything you need to know before buying
Yes, that is the main case it is written for. Part 5 walks the exact challan path — Link Aadhaar, then Pay Through e-Pay Tax, then Other Receipts (500) with the sub-type for the linking fee — and explains why you should wait four to five days before submitting the link request. It also covers what stays blocked during the 30-day wait, and what to do if the link keeps failing on a name or date-of-birth mismatch.
It is built on the rules as they stand after 1 April 2026, when the Income-tax Act, 2025 and the Income-tax Rules, 2026 replaced the old framework. Every fee, form number, section and deadline was checked against UIDAI and Income Tax Department material on 4 November 2026 — including the UIDAI office memorandum of 13 May 2026 that extended free document updates to 14 June 2027.
Part 2 is a 12-minute audit, Part 4 is the PAN CR-01 correction, and Part 7 is the part most people skip — the bank, employer, demat and insurer updates that a corrected PAN does not do for you. If you only read those three, you still get the whole sequence right, and the sequence is what saves the second fee.
Both, in the order you should do them. Aadhaar is the base record, so the book starts there: the free document-update window, the Aadhaar app flows for mobile, address and email, and the three changes that need a centre visit. It also covers the update limits — name twice, gender once, date of birth once — because wasting the date-of-birth change is the most expensive mistake in this whole process.
That is Case 1, worked end to end with documents, fees and timeline. The book also covers a date-of-birth typo, a single-word name with no surname, initials versus expanded name, NRI and OCI holders, and a child who has just turned 18.
