UCEED · CEED · NIFT · NID — four doors, three deadlines, eleven weeks
The 33-page playbook for the 2027-28 design admission cycle. Every official date, fee, marking rule, seat number and refund clause verified from IIT Bombay, NTA, NIFT and NID on 31 October 2026 — plus the two pieces of arithmetic nobody explains, 20 original practice questions and an 11-week plan that serves all three undergraduate exams at once.

The Part B qualifying cut-off is 15 out of 100 for the open category. A candidate scoring 190 out of 200 in Part A and 14 in Part B receives no rank at all — the Part A brilliance is discarded. Chapter 14 explains why this inverts most people's preparation.
GAT 30 per cent, CAT 50 per cent, Situation Test 20 per cent. The GAT — the part with past papers, mock series and coaching batches — is the smallest slice. Chapter 16 shows two candidates where the one who drilled the GAT loses by eleven marks.
245 UCEED seats across seven IITs. 3,423 NIFT B.Des seats. Nine seats per discipline at each NID campus. Chapter 3 puts the three side by side, which is why nobody sensible prepares for one exam.
On UCEED's multiple-select questions, partial credit pays for certainty and punishes curiosity. Chapter 12 works out the exact confidence threshold for adding one more option — and the expected value of guessing on the MCQs.
Built for the 2027-28 admission cycle, and honest about who it excludes
Science, Commerce or Arts. All three undergraduate exams admit every stream — the book explains where stream actually matters and where it does not.
UCEED allows two attempts in consecutive years and nothing more. Chapter 2 sets out the eligibility gate that catches gap-year candidates, and Chapter 32 covers the lateral and artisan routes if this year does not work.
CEED is your door, not UCEED. Part Two decodes it, including the 0.25 / 0.75 weighting that makes Part B three-quarters of your score.
Chapter 47 is a single page: what is being decided, what it costs, what the risk is, what is worth doing in the next six weeks, and what is not worth paying for.
10 parts, 48 chapters, 33 pages — every page carrying something you can act on
Every registration window from 31 October 2026 to 17 January 2027, in the order the portals actually close, with the late-fee cost of each miss.
Worked expected values for UCEED's NAT, MSQ and MCQ sections and NIFT's GAT — which sections reward guessing and which punish it.
The two 50-mark UCEED questions, the three-question NIFT CAT, and the seven published Situation Test parameters — with the four of seven you can train without drawing talent.
Week-by-week from 2 November to 17 January, with a non-negotiable output for each week, a daily 90-minute block and the error log that makes mocks worth doing.
Original, written for this book: 6 numerical, 4 multiple-select, 10 multiple-choice, with a full answer key and the reasoning behind each one.
Eight drawing prompts and eight NID studio prompts, each with the time limit and a description of what a strong answer actually contains.
Application fees, the ₹5,000 NIFT late fee, the ₹65,000 UCEED seat acceptance fee, the ₹60,000 refund and the 7 July 2027 cliff — plus NIFT's published fee circular.
Registration and exam-day checklists, exam-day scripts for all three papers, a money worksheet, a source log with every document version, and a glossary.
From deciding which door is yours to what the work is actually like
What each exam buys you, which door is yours, the seat arithmetic, and the honest money map.
The master calendar, then UCEED, NIFT, NID and CEED registration walked through step by step, and twelve errors that end a candidature.
The paper in full, the marking maths, the six question families, and why Part B is the gate most candidates fail.
Where the rank is actually won, the GAT in 120 minutes, the CAT in 180, the seven Situation Test parameters, and the B.F.Tech fork.
Prelims on 20 December, why that score does not carry forward, the two-part Mains, and choosing among nine-seat disciplines.
The week-by-week plan, the daily ninety minutes, five drawing skills that get marked, the observation journal, and how to review a mock.
UCEED's five counselling rounds with the freeze and float traps, NIFT's Stage 2, NID's admission application, and the routes that stay open if it does not work.
The next 48 hours, 20 UCEED questions with a full key, 8 drawing prompts, 14 NIFT GAT questions, 8 NID studio prompts, the seat tables and five myths.
Master checklist, exam-day scripts, money worksheet, sources and verification log, glossary.
What the work is actually like across all seven NIFT programmes and the IIT and NID streams, a parent's page, and what to do if you are reading this after the deadlines.

Everything you need to know before buying
All four design entrances for the 2027-28 cycle: UCEED for B.Des at seven IITs, CEED for M.Des and PhD, NIFTEE for B.Des and B.F.Tech at twenty NIFT campuses, and the NID Design Aptitude Test. Each is decoded separately, with its own dates, fees, pattern and marking scheme.
No. CEED is the postgraduate route and requires a three-year degree or diploma. If you are in Class 12, your exams are UCEED, NIFTEE and NID DAT, and Chapter 2 explains exactly which door belongs to which candidate.
Every date, fee, marking rule, weightage, seat number and refund clause was taken from a primary source and checked on 31 October 2026: the UCEED 2027 Information Brochure version 1.0, the CEED 2027 official site, the NIFTEE 2027 Information Bulletin and NIFT Admissions Guidelines of 16 October 2026, NIFT's Fee Circular 2026-27, and the NID Admissions Handbook 2027-28. Chapter 44 lists every source with the version checked.
Chapter 48 is written for exactly that. It covers NIFT's Artisan category and NLEA routes, the 47 result-sharing institutes that accepted UCEED scores in the 2026 cycle, and the dates to plan the next cycle against.
No, and it says so on page 2. UCEED has 245 seats nationally, NIFT 3,423 B.Des seats, and NID nine per discipline. What the book does is make sure you are registered, prepared and in the right room on the right day — which is the part you can control.
